Hey guys! I’m super excited to be writing you from high up in the mountains of Guatemala. Our time here so far has been bittersweet. Beautiful but challenging.

Our last comfort food meal in the United States.

Taking in the new landscape on our way to our ministry site.

Katie is a ball of sunshine. 🙂 She’s also superhuman. If she were to be dropped off in the middle of a forest with no supplies, she would return on the back of a mountain lion.

Bear Grylls wishes he was Katie.

Buses in Guatemala are super colorful & fun! Their shocks on the other hand are ROUGH.

Enjoying time with Jesus among His creation at the Adventures training base in Guatemala.

Arriving at our ministry site in Chichicastenango, Guatemala. We’re in an indigenous community where over 95% of residents are Mayans who speak dialect and Spanish. Our next door neighbor is a witch doctor.

Our host, Juan, & his family at Ministerio Nueva Generacion, New Generation Ministry.

Praying with and gifting Mateo food and a blind chicken as he is currently going through a hard time with his five month old daughter. He recently lost his wife, mother, and mother-in-law. He remains steadfast in trusting the Lord’s plan, though it may not make sense to him now.

Jacob leads worship, learning worship songs in Spanish so that we can sing with the native people. Many children around the community come to Ministerio Nueva Generacion on Tuesdays & Fridays to hear Bible stories, worship, play, and learn how to use a laptop. Juan’s wife Evelyn straightens and styles the mother’s hair.

Teammate Jose gives his testimonies at an indigenous Nazarene Church.

After a beautiful church service with Allie, Daliah & Allison.

Our transportation to and from high up in the mountains to Chichi.

Exploring the city with my team!

Straight chillin’.

Hanging out with a street boy as he sells bananas.

Street children follow us around like an entourage selling us Guatemalan pens, instrument, scrunchies, etc. They are very aggressive and persistent.

A beautiful market. The people here are incredibly kind and hospitable.

Chichi has the largest market in Guatemala and Central America.

There is a church of life and a church of death. Here at the church of death they are sacrificing an animal on the left side.

A scenic graveyard in Guatemala.

Walking to the soccer field near our compound in Chichi.

Coffee shop with an amazing view within walking distance from our compound. The crepe + horchata were $5 USD.

Our view from the coffee shop after sunset. This traffic jam held up two of our teammates who were waiting on a ride from the city in the distance.

Please be praying for my team. There have been issues with COVID, as well as spiritual warfare since we are in a village that heavily practices witchcraft.

I’m also still raising $1,300! If you know anyone who has a heart for missions, please share my blog with them.

Also, I may not be able to do many of these while I’m in Chichi due to poor wifi. Until next time.

All the love,

Lindsey
